Commitment to Privacy: Hackerzone ("we", "us", "our") respects the privacy of developers, hackathon organizers, and visitors. This policy outlines our data collection, authentication practices via Supabase and OAuth, and your rights concerning personal information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to authenticate your account and facilitate hackathons:
- Account & Profile Details: Your name, username, email address, bio, skills, location, and avatar. When you authenticate using GitHub or Google OAuth, we receive authorized profile identifiers.
- Hackathon Submissions: Project title, tagline, description, repository URLs, demo video links, technology tags, and team member relationships.
- Organizer & Lead Data: Information submitted via host lead forms (organization name, contact email, hackathon format, estimated participant counts) to facilitate sales and platform onboarding.
- Authentication Logs: Timestamps and IP addresses associated with login sessions to protect against brute-force attacks and account compromise.
2. How We Use Information
We process your data strictly for legitimate platform purposes:
- To provide hackathon registration, project submission queues, and judging scorecards.
- To enable team formation, public builder profiles, and project showcases.
- To detect and prevent anti-cheating violations, code plagiarism, and platform abuse.
- To deliver transactional system emails (registration confirmations, team invites, and judging notices).
3. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
Hackerzone does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share information only in the following contexts:
- Hackathon Organizers: When you register for an event, the designated organizers receive access to participant information required to administer the hackathon, coordinate mentorship, and distribute prizes.
- Infrastructure Providers: Hosted database and authentication services via Supabase, cloud compute via Vercel, and transactional email gateways.
- Public Profiles: By design, your builder profile, public projects, and badges are publicly viewable across the Hackerzone ecosystem.
4. Data Retention & User Controls
You maintain full control over your data. You may update your profile, disconnect OAuth providers, or request full account deletion via your Account Settings. Upon deletion, personal identifiers are permanently scrubbed or anonymized within 30 days.
